These are just some personal notes that may or may not go on to become better things. I am getting closer and closer to developing some sort of a concept or narrative behind my work. And day by day these notes of questionable sanity are helping me to get there…
Looking for something new I decided to do some life drawing of faces alongside some improvised drawings and applying funny captions to them.
I have decided to break out of slow meticulous drawing methods and chop my drawings up to combine them with mind bending black and white photo collages to create a truly raw and unique image. The imagery I seem to be drawn to most are body parts, organs, eyes, people, reptiles, planes and guns. This process is really stimulating for me and more healthier than spending months and months on one drawing.
I guess imposing my artwork off my phone onto people on nights out have paid off. My first paid comission for Clwb Ifor Bach.
Probably the coolest art experience i’ve had since living in Cardiff. Disaster struck at the beginning with a massive tub of white paint exploding in the back of my friend Si’s car, but we pulled through and managed to get this beauty done in 2 days. Great friends, great weekend!
My third painting, inside an abandoned church in Abercarn. Incredible location, definetly worth revisiting and painting there again. I wanted to paint bigger, but I only had half a day there to paint, so I needed something I could finish in one session.
This was a fun and easy paint as I had semi planned it the night before, Late march is the date that marks my obsession with drawing menacing, laughing human faces, which I will further explain my reasoning for in a sketchbook post.
We showed up expecting to be isolated from people, but we were soon surrounded by a bunch of stoned kids calling me banksy and asking if they could use our paint to write their names on the walls.
This is my second wall painting in gremlin alley, behind Milgi’s. I am not happy with how this came out and will probably be painting over it in future times. I need to stop going full retard and plan ahead with my paintings. I have alot of ideas in the bank that need developing, also including more narrative based things which will be explained further in a sketchbook post.
